Review:

I’m not usually into romance, but it seems I’ve been tapping into my inner girly-girl recently. I was intrigued from the get-go – I don’t think I’ve ever known anyone who was terrified of flying. But then Jen meets seriously hot guy, Gunner Foster.

What I liked: As a contemp, the story flowed really well. Sasha created a world without dry spots and stuck to realism, for the most part.

Jen, as a protagonist, was easy to get along with. Jen was the kind of person that learns from her mistakes. She wants a fresh start in a lot of ways.

Gunner, as a supporting character, is almost too good to be true. He’s lovable and sweet, and packed to the brim with rippling muscle.

What I Didn’t Like:

Jen became one of those Girls-I-Hate during the airplane scene, almost like she was being coy and trying to be cute just so a hot guy would flirt with her. I would have liked to see more talking and less cuddling among strangers.

Gunner’s reaction to learning her real name. The name Jenny Fleming is paired with parties, drinking, and is a paparazzi dream. Having known Jen and knowing that she isn’t that girl anymore, my ideal Gunner would have told his mom to shove it. But instead he flew off the handle and left, only to come crawling back with a ring. For about ten minutes, I truly hated him.

I don’t want to give too much away, but Hollywood Holiday was a cute, short read with adult themes, some steamy romance, and it came just in time for the holidays.

Synopsis:

All she wants for Christmas is for Hollywood to love her again. But once she meets him, her Christmas list changes.

Jen’s only Christmas wish: Hollywood falling back in love with her. Meeting ex-Marine Gunner was a bonus. She likes that he isn’t impressed by celebrities or the movie biz. She likes that he’s funny and sweet … and drop-dead gorgeous. And she loves that he has no idea who her alter-ego is: Jen Fleming, Hollywood bad-girl and paparazzi target number one. Why ruin an amazing affair when he’s leaving after the new year?

But the closer they get, the harder she falls, and the more she wants to tell Gunner everything. Especially once he shares his secret with her.

Her new Christmas wish: Gunner accepts and loves her for who she really is.
